Three-Phase State Estimation for Distribution-Grid Analytics

چکیده

Power-distribution grids consist of assets such as transformers, cables, and switches, which the proper utilization is essential for provision a secure reliable power supply to end customers. Distribution-system operators (DSOs) are responsible operation maintenance these assets. Due increased use renewable sources wind solar, grid prone conditions outside safe boundaries, overloading, large voltage unbalance, rise in voltage. At present, distribution poorly monitored by DSOs, above-mentioned problems may thereby go unnoticed until failure critical asset occurs. The deployment smart meters has enabled measurements variables power, current, However, their used only billing purposes, not monitoring improving operating condition grids. In this paper, state-estimation algorithm proposed that utilizes smart-meter data offline analysis, estimates loading losses. Single- three-phase algorithms compared through simulation studies on real-life low-voltage using measured data. based nonlinear weighted least-squares method was found be more accurate estimating cable line useful DSOs analyze flows take necessary actions upgrades or rerouting flows.

Impact of Three-phase Pseudo-measurement Generation from Smart Meter Data on Distribution Grid State Estimation

This paper addresses the modelling of unknown power values, so-called pseudo-measurements, for the use in distribution grid state estimation. Historical load data from smart metering devices in private households and photovoltaic systems is analysed regarding phase distribution, reactive power and correlation between different generators. Based on this, methods for pseudomeasurement generation ...

Requirements of State Estimation in Smart Distribution Grid

Advanced analytical applications for global controls and optimization of distribution systems have not been widely adopted by utilities because of lacking real time complete system models. As more Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) with two-way communications are being employed, the amount of quasi real time data gathered at different rates by various automation systems is increasing. With ef...

State Estimation and Volt-Var Control in Smart Distribution Grid

Distribution smart grid is very important part of the smart grid. Utilities use Distribution Management System (DMS) as supervisory control layer at the power system control centers. State Estimation (SE) and Volt-Var Control (VVC) are the prime applications of the DMS. In the modern DMS, SE is required for extensive monitoring and control of the entire distribution network. In the presence of ...

Analytics for Power Grid Distribution Reliability in New York City

We summarize the first major effort to use analytics for preemptive maintenance and repair of an electrical distribution network. This is a large-scale multi-year effort between scientists and students at Columbia and MIT and engineers from Con Edison, which operates the world’s oldest and largest underground electrical system. Con Edison’s preemptive maintenance programs are less than a decade...
